I am currently half way through a foundation course in Liverpool, where I moved to from my home town, in order to broaden my interests and establish my independence. This move encouraged me to break out of my comfort zone and explore different aspects within my work. I tend to specialise in installations, pieces that inhabit their own space and create questions to the viewer, and frequently involve concepts that explore the human condition and how we interact with art.

I think the work I have submitted here best explore this, as well as featuring varied techniques such as pencil, paint, collage and photography, often within installations or as stand-alone pieces. Being quite literal, an investigation of manipulating books felt natural and influences such as William Burroughs inspired me to explore the practice of Cut-Ups throughout a few pieces. By exploring what makes us human and weekly life drawing sessions, I became fascinated in human anatomy and the connection between our physical and psychological humanity.

In contrast to this self-discord is a theme which is prevalent throughout my work. Whether it's a world in conflict (like the Climate Change piece) or social interaction problems that people with autism face, discordance (as well as connections) proves a reoccurring feature within life, and this reflects in my own art.

I feel that partaking in a Fine Art course will enable me to develop my work further, by finding new stimuli in the surroundings of university and other students and professionals, and being encouraged to expand to other practices of Fine Art.
